Predictions: BFL 55

Each event, there will be a “guest predictor” who will offer their insight into the event and provide their predictions for each MMA bout.

For BFL 55, Dejan Kajic and Tye Mcentire haveĀ  stepped in to provide their predictions and analysis for the 14 MMA bouts on the card.

Kajic holds a professional MMA record of 8-7-2, 1 NC, while currently residing in Coquitlam. Kajic holds wins over many tough opponents including David Perron, Tim Welch, and Ash Mashreghi. His last outing in the cage was a tight split decision loss to Menad Abella at Prestige FC 9.

Mcentire boasts an amateur MMA record of 2-1, which includes recently winning the gold medal at the Canadian National Amateur Championships and earning a spot on Team Canada to compete at the World Championships, following his impressive victory over Mike Parsons.

Here are Kajic’s and Mcentire’s predictions for BFL 55:

Achilles Estremadura (2-0) vs Ryan Rohovich (4-3): Fight Preview

“I’ve trained with Estremadura for years and the kid has some of the fastest hands in the game, and he hits like a monster.” – Kajic

Prediction: Estremadura wins by knockout in the first round.

Jared Revel (5-2) vs TJ Koehler (3-1)

“Revel is as legit a black belt as they get, and is a heavy-handed tough dude.” – Kajic

Prediction: Revel wins by submission in the first round.

Ash Mashreghi (6-6) vs Nick Coughran (2-6)

“I’ve fought Mashreghi twice and I’ve trained with him. He’s going to KO this guy badly, right hand overhand, probably three minutes in.” – Kajic

Prediction: Mashreghi wins by knockout in the first round.

Saeid Mirzaei (0-0-1) vs Greyson Shields (0-0)

“Mirzaei is going to walk through Shields. He’s going to take him down, ground and pound, then Shields will give up his back for a rear-naked choke two-three minutes into the fight.” – Kajic

Prediction: Mirzaei wins by submission in the first round.

Tylor Nicholson (0-2) vs Damon Begg (0-0)

“Nicholson comes from Titan MMA, where all their guys are so well-tested and versatile that it doesn’t matter if the fight goes to the ground or stays standing. Titan guys are hard to overlook.” – Kajic

Prediction: Nicholson wins by knockout in the second round.

Justin Aujla-Fieldt (3-1) vs Austin Batra (3-1): Fight Preview

“Aujla-Fieldt’s double-leg, his transitioning, and his scrambling are all very good, and he’s got heavy hands once he gets on top of you.” – Kajic

Prediction: Aujla-Fieldt wins by TKO in the second round.

Ali Wasuk (6-3) vs Mitch Strazzella (2-0): Fight Preview

“Five of Wasuk’s wins have come by decision, so he’s typically not a finisher. Strazzella has also proved he can go the distance, so I think it’ll be a good one.” – Mcentire

Prediction: Wasuk wins by unanimous decision.

Dion Wu (1-1) vs David Chen (1-2)

“This was the toughest one for me. They both have very similar records, and I’m thinking it’s going to be a long-haul fight.” – Mcentire

Prediction: Wu wins by split decision.

James Foster (1-0) vs Dean Berger (0-0)

“Foster is obviously a power-puncher, but he burns out in the later rounds. Since Berger hasn’t fought since 2013, I’m thinking there will be a little cage rust, and Foster will end it early.” – Mcentire

Prediction: Foster wins by TKO in the first round.

Mike Dechavez (1-0) vs Micah Todd (0-2)

“Todd’s first two fights as a pro were against a guy with eight fights and a guy with five fights, so it’ll be interesting to see how he stacks up against someone with a similar record.” – Mcentire

Prediction: Dechavez wins by submission in the first round.

Marlan Hall (2-2) vs Glen Cuevas (2-1)

“Cuevas’ best chance is to get Hall on the ground and take it from there, but I think Hall is just too much and too good.” – Mcentire

Prediction: Hall wins by TKO in the second round.

Casey O’Leary (2-3) vs Amir Razavi (1-0)

“Razavi has some real good high kicks, but I think O’Leary’s too much of a veteran to be caught by any of those. I can see this going the distance.” – Mcentire

Prediction: O’Leary wins by unanimous decision.

Kody Smith (1-2) vs Aaron Lightning (0-0)

“Ive trained with Smith quite a bit, and he’s a durable, tough guy with heavy hands. He’ll be dangerous in the first couple minutes of every round.” – Kajic

Prediction: Smith wins by TKO in the second round.

Max Wong (1-0) vs Huck Jones (0-0)

“Wong’s going in there coming off a win and he’s confident. He’s going to go in there better than he did last time and get it done.” – Mcentire

Prediction: Wong wins by submission in the second round.
