Predictions: BFL 58

Each event, there will be a “guest predictor” who will offer their insight into the event and provide their predictions for each MMA bout.

For BFL 58, Marlan Hall has stepped in to provide his predictions and analysis for the eight MMA bouts on the card.

Hall boasts an impressive amateur record of 9-3, and most recently became the BFL amateur featherweight champion after defeating Gwyn Berry at BFL 57. In addition, Hall is currently riding a four-fight win streak, and said his professional debut could be on the horizon.

Here are Hall’s predictions for BFL 58:

Dustin Joynson (4-0) vs Caio Machado (1-0-1): Fight Preview

“Both guys are very skilled, but I think if Machado can be the aggressor and bully his way, then he’ll get the win.”

Prediction: Machado defeats Joynson by unanimous decision.

Dalton Duperreault (4-0) vs Jason Washington (3-0)

“I haven’t really seen much on either guy, but Duperreault has been a champion in another organization, so I’ll base it off that.”

Prediction: Duperreault defeats Washington by submission in the third round.

Daniel Richard (5-3) vs CJ Strongheart (4-2): Fight Preview

“All of Richard’s defeats have been by grapplers, and Strongheart already has a win over him, but Richard will be hungry and trains out of a good camp. It’s going to be interesting to see if Richard can deny the takedowns.”

Prediction: Strongheart defeats Richard by unanimous decision.

Gio Platon (2-1) vs Mitch Strazzella (2-1)

“Strazzella’s boxing seems more polished, and I feel defence is a must against Platon, and Strazzella’s defence is very smooth. But if Platon can land a big shot, I’ll be interested to see how Strazzella takes it. For me, this is the main event. I’m hyped for this one.”

Prediction: Strazzella defeats Platon by unanimous decision.

Manny Fernandez (3-1) vs Dario Sinagoga (3-2)

“I feel Fernandez is on a mission, and is just too hungry and confident.”

Prediction: Fernandez defeats Sinagoga by TKO in the third round.

Francis Tiapis (5-0) vs Indroop Virk (2-0): Fight Preview

“I don’t know either guy very well, but Tiapis is the number one ranked flyweight in Canada, and Virk is from a good camp. It’s hard to choose, but I’ll take Virk. I love a good underdog story.”

Prediction: Virk defeats Tiapis by unanimous decision.

Brayden Kersey (1-4) vs Justin Daley (2-1)

“Daley’s grappling is really good, and Kersey’s had trouble with grapplers before, and you can not be only decent on the ground if you fight Daley. With that being said, Kersey’s got them hands, so maybe he can catch Daley early.”

Prediction: Daley defeats Kersey by submission in the first round.

Flint Radatzke (1-1) vs Dakota Angel (2-0)

“For people who haven’t seen Angel fight, they’re going to be in a for a treat. He has great striking, great grappling, and is a fun fighter to watch. I’ve watched him this camp, and he’s looking really sharp. Hard to bet against that.”

Prediction: Angel defeats Radatzke by submission in the first round.
