Each event, there will be a “guest predictor” who will offer their insight into the event and provide their predictions for each MMA bout.
For BFL 70, Mitch Wiles (2-2) has stepped in to provide his predictions and analysis for the 11 MMA bouts on the card.
Currently riding a two-fight winning streak, Wiles has begun climbing the ranks of the amateur flyweight division. His most recent triumph was a unanimous decision over Shane Bell at Unified MMA 40. Look for Wiles to return to action in early 2022.
Here are Wiles’ predictions for BFL 70:
Serhiy Sidey (5-1) vs. Ali Wasuk (4-1): PRO Bantamweight Title Bout** SIDEY PREVIEW, WASUK PREVIEW
“Two of Canada’s top bantamweights scrapping it out for the BFL title. Both are solid everywhere and I could see this one going either way really.”
Prediction: Sidey wins via decision.
Gio Platon (2-1) vs. Austin Russell (2-0): PRO Bantamweight RUSSELL PREVIEW
“Platon is one of the hardest hitting 135ers I’ve seen. He is very dangerous on the feet, especially early on. With that being said, Russell has always impressed me with his calm composure during his fights and I think he is truly one to keep an eye on.”
Prediction: Russell wins via decision.
Bryce Gougeon (1-2-1) vs. Rafael Palomeque (2-3): PRO 175 pounds
“These two have fought for BFL this year already, so we’ve gotten to see a little of what we can expect from them come fight night. I could see the fight swinging in either man’s favour really, but I’m picking Gougeon.”
Prediction: Gougeon wins via decision.
Jayden Martin (0-1) vs. Chester Post (12-26-1): PRO Light Heavyweight
“Post has a wealth of experience in comparison to his opponent, but Martin is a very explosive and dynamic fighter who I see taking the win early.”
Prediction: Martin wins via TKO in the first round.
Christian Tremayne (3-1) vs. Dylan Schellenberg (0-2): PRO 165 pounds
“Tremayne looked solid in his first fight back in September after some time away. Schellenberg has fought some solid guys to start his pro career, so you can’t count him out, but I see the B.C. native taking this one.”
Prediction: Tremayne wins via submission in the second round.
Makinde Adeyemi (0-2) vs. Maxime Soucy (1-1): PRO Featherweight
“It’s been a few years since these two have fought, so I’m expecting both to come out looking more polished and better than before. I’ll take my fellow countryman in this matchup.”
Prediction: Soucy wins via submission in the first round.
Oguzhan Yalcin (0-0) vs. Caleb Ermine (0-0): PRO Featherweight
“Both men are bringing in a good amount of experience into their professional debuts. Yalcin won the amateur BFL title back in 2019, so I’m siding with him in this one.”
Prediction: Yalcin wins via decision.
Scott Erikson (1-2) vs. Varun Sunder Rajan (1-2): AMATEUR Flyweight
“I’m looking forward to seeing some flyweights back in action. Both are good anywhere the fight goes and are sporting identical records. It really comes to down to who’s improved the most during these chaotic times.”
Prediction: Sunder Rajan wins via decision.
Sina Maani (2-0) vs. Connor Monahan (0-0): AMATEUR 140 pounds
“Maani has two fights to his name while Monahan is making his first appearance. I’m sure it will be a scrap, but I’ll take the more experienced fighter in this one.”
Prediction: Maani wins via decision.
Brad Hildenbrandt (0-0) vs. Frank Farroghi (0-0): AMATEUR Heavyweight
“Two heavyweights making their amateur debut. I’m sure they’ll both come out hard, but I see the high-level wrestling game of Hildenbrandt making the difference over Farroghi.”
Prediction: Hildenbrandt wins via TKO in the second round.
Flint Radatzke (1-3) vs. Dillon Foerster (0-0): AMATEUR Lightweight
“Radatzke is coming in with the cage experience, while Foerster is making his debut. I’ll take the newcomer this time around.”
Prediction: Foerster wins via submission in the third round.
