Predictions: Unified MMA 49

Unified MMA is set to close out 2022 with a bang with Unified MMA 49. We will see Graham Park back in action defending his light heavyweight title, a fight-of-night contender in Nick Hrabec vs. Tim Smith, and much more.

Here are my picks for the card:

Graham Park (8-3) vs. Ty Flores (9-4) PRO Light Heavyweight Title Bout** PARK PREVIEW, FLORES PREVIEW

One of the many good things about Unified is they don’t feed their champions easy fights. Flores is a very solid test for Park here and is a lot better than his record shows. The aggressiveness and power of Park has been a big part of his success so far in his career, and while he’s absolutely live to finish Flores at any point, I’m actually going to side with Flores in this one. He has faced and beaten some very tough opponents and is a main training partner of Curtis Blaydes.

Prediction: Flores win via submission.

Nick Hrabec (8-5) vs. Tim Smith (16-12): PRO 165 pounds HRABEC PREVIEW, SMITH PREVIEW

This is such a tough one to pick a winner. Smith is as tough as they come and is still getting better, even at 39 years old. I wish I could pick both to win here, but since I can only take one winner, I’m going with Hrabec as I think his range and speed will be the deciding factor.

Prediction: Hrabec wins via decision.

Aaron Bosiak (4-2) vs. Cody Ries (3-2): PRO 165 pounds

I’m not too familiar with either of these guys since it’s been over six years since either of them has fought. We have ourselves a throwback fight it seems. I believe Bosiak is coming out of a strong camp and will be well-prepared for this one-off return fight.

Prediction: Bosiak wins via submission.

Harley King (2-1) vs. Devon Lozej (2-1): PRO Bantamweight

This is a sleeper fight right here. Two true up-and-coming  prospects. I feel this is a fight where both guys have paths to victory. I feel King will have the edge in the striking, but Lozej could find success with the takedowns. I would not be surprised to see either guy get his hand raised, but I’m going with Lozej.

Prediction: Lozej wins via decision.

Jo Maisonneuve (1-2) vs. Shannon Clark (1-0): PRO Women’s 130 pounds

Maybe I’ll look way too overconfident with this one, but I think Clark has Maisonneuve covered everywhere in this one and should cruise.

Prediction: Clark wins via decision.

Matt Klute (1-1) vs. Caleb Ermine (0-2): PRO Featherweight

It feels like forever since we’ve seen Klute in the cage, but I’m glad he’s back because he always brings it. I feel he gets the job done here pretty convincingly as I think he’s on another level than Ermine.

Prediction: Klute wins via decision.

Jake Craig (3-0) vs. Terell Jonasson (2-0): AMATEUR Heavyweight Title Bout**

This fight is going to be wild for as long as it lasts. Jonasson swings for the fences, while Craig is more technical but still possesses a lot of power. I think Craig will eventually land that finishing blow.

Prediction: Craig wins via knockout.

Gabriel Brown (1-2) vs. Kulbir Singh (0-0): AMATEUR Flyweight

With Singh making his debut, we don’t know anything about him. I will side the the experience of Brown in this one.

Prediction: Brown wins via decision.

Tony Rojas (2-1) vs. Edwin Ssekibuule (0-1): AMATEUR Flyweight

This should be a fun one to open up the card. Rojas suffered his first defeat last time out, but I like him to get back in the win column here.

Prediction: Rojas wins via decision.
