Each event, there will be a “guest predictor” who will offer their insight into the event and provide their predictions for each MMA bout.
For BFL 66, Raphael Ouellet (3-1) has stepped in to provide his predictions and analysis for the eight MMA bouts on the card.
Ouellet is the current amateur lightweight champion for Rise FC and is well-known for his slick jiu-jitsu game. He and his brother, Nicolas Ouellet, own and operate a jiu-jitsu gym in Powell River, B.C. while working to progress in their own MMA careers.
Here are Ouellet’s predictions for BFL 66:
Achilles Estremadura (6-0) vs. Curtis Demarce (18-15) FIGHT PREVIEW
“I know Estremadura is known as a striker, but I think people probably underestimate his ground game a little. He is from a really good camp and I got him pulling off a submission, showing a well-rounded game before moving up to the big show.”
Prediction: Achilles Estremadura wins via submission.
Caio Machado (3-1-1) vs. Lee Mein (11-14) FIGHT PREVIEW
“Mein will be Machado’s most experienced opponent to date, but I don’t think he will have a chance to put that experience to use. I think Machado gets it done early in this one.”
Prediction: Caio Machado wins via knockout.
Dario Sinagoga (3-0) vs. Craig Shintani (9-3)
“This is a big step up in competition for Sinagoga, facing someone with four times the amount of fights. Shintani holds serious knockout power, but Sinagoga is super well-rounded and I got him grinding out out a decision.”
Prediction: Dario Sinagoga wins via unanimous decision.
Keanan Kellar (2-0) vs. Kyran Cameron (4-0)
“This is a good matchup. Two undefeated prospects with lots of promise, and both coming out of strong camps. This could come down to the wire.”
Prediction: Keanan Kellar wins via unanimous decision.
Ali Wasuk (3-1) vs. Craig Maclean (5-3) FIGHT PREVIEW
“I think this has potential to be fight of the night, in my opinion. Both guys are super well-rounded and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them both in the big show sometime soon. I think Maclean lands a big shot late in the fight when he finds his timing and ends it.”
Prediction: Craig Maclean wins via knockout.
Gio Platon (0-0) vs. Tylor Nicholson (1-4)
“I think Platon will try to take Nicholson down to the mat and try to get a submission or grind out a decision. But in the end I got Nicholson landing something big and finishing it.”
Prediction: Tylor Nicholson wins via knockout.
Ivan Hryshchuk (0-0) vs. Drayton Angus (7-10)
“I don’t know much about either of these guys, but I think Hryshchuk probably wants it a bit more judging by their record.”
Prediction: Ivan Hryshchuk wins via knockout.
Indroop Virk (0-0) vs. Matt Dawson (2-0)
“Virk had quite the amateur career, going 7-0 while winning titles in three different weight classes. I think his amateur experience will show and get him the win.”
Prediction: Indroop Virk wins via unanimous decision.
