Each event, there will be a “guest predictor” who will offer their insight into the event and provide their predictions for each MMA bout.

For MFL 17, Tylor Freeman has stepped in to provide his predictions and analysis for the 15 MMA bouts on the card.
Freeman holds an amateur record of 5-2, and is the current MFL amateur lightweight champion after defeating Matthew Cooper earlier this year at MFL 16 to win the belt.
Here are Freeman’s predictions for MFL 17:
Louis-Philippe Caron (1-0) vs Gordon Cunningham (2-0): AMATEUR Light Heavyweight Title Bout** FIGHT PREVIEW
“This is a close fight, on paper. I think Cunningham has the clear striking advantage, and Caron has the grappling advantage. With that being said, I think Cunningham keeps distance.”
Prediction: Cunningham wins by unanimous decision.
Zachary Baldwin (3-1) vs Tommy Morrisson (6-1): AMATEUR Flyweight Title Bout** FIGHT PREVIEW
“I’m really excited about this fight. Both are great strikers and although, on paper, Baldwin has more muay thai experience, I think Morrisson is way to complete of an MMA fighter.”
Prediction: Morrisson wins by submission in the third round.
Liam Gallagher (4-0) vs Patrick Arseneau (3-0): AMATEUR Bantamweight Title Bout** FIGHT PREVIEW
“A fight between two guys who have some good kickboxing experience, but I think Gallagher has the clear advantage striking from all his experience, and finishes the fight.”
Prediction: Gallagher wins by TKO in the second round.
Alejandro Alvarado-Jimenez (2-1) vs Vince Nikiforov (0-1): AMATEUR Featherweight
“This is a tough fight to pick, for me, because Alvarado-Jimenez is a great striker and I’d say better on paper, but Nikiforov improves every fight and is really long for this weight class. Nikiforov’s key to winning is using his range, and Alvarado-Jimenez’s key is chewing up the legs early and using angles.”
Prediction: Nikiforov wins by unanimous decision.
Charles Azoulay (0-0) vs Joel Gauthier (0-0): AMATEUR Lightweight
“Both are strikers, and after training with Azoulay, he seems to have the better angles, has a great gas tank and will out work Gauthier.”
Prediction: Azoulay wins by unanimous decision.
Drew Truax (1-1) vs Olivier Poisson (3-0): AMATEUR Featherweight
“I’ve seen both fight before, and I think Poisson wins this one with ease and moves onto a title shot.”
Prediction: Poisson wins by submission in the first round.
Blake Loxton (1-3) vs Kevin Ostiguy (2-1): AMATEUR Bantamweight
“Loxton is really tough and has some of the best heart I’ve seen in the amateur scene, but i think Ostiguy is just the much better all-around fighter.”
Prediction: Ostiguy wins by unanimous decision.
Marc-Andre Brisebois (0-0) vs Luke Roberts (0-0): AMATEUR Welterweight
“Both seem to have good grappling backgrounds, so this could come down to the striking. I’ll go with Roberts for this one.”
Prediction: Roberts wins by submission in the second round.
Keyano Young (0-0) vs Innokentiy Perelmutov (0-0): AMATEUR Featherweight
“I think Young uses his physicality and outworks his opponent.”
Prediction: Young wins by TKO in the second round.
Runor Ralph (0-0) vs Zachary Raymond (0-0): AMATEUR Welterweight
“Ralph trains at a legit gym, so I think he gets the job done inside the distance.”
Prediction: Ralph wins by TKO in the first round.
Nikita Ponomarenko (0-0) vs David Doucette (0-1): AMATEUR Featherweight
“I think Ponomarenko uses range and gets it done.”
Prediction: Ponomarenko wins by TKO in the first round.
Jo Gauthier (0-0) vs Nicky Heinrichs (0-0): AMATEUR Lightweight
“Heinrichs seems to be an intense fighter who will push the pace and look for a finish early, but I expect Gauthier’s better striking and experience to be the difference here.”
Prediction: Gauthier wins by unanimous decision.
Geran Buckner (1-0) vs Jean-Michel Grondin (0-0): AMATEUR Light Heavyweight
“Another teammate, Buckner will make his light heavyweight debut coming from heavyweight. He moves so well for a guy in his weight class, and I think he gets the KO early.”
Prediction: Buckner wins by knockout in the first round.
Aymen Echi (0-0) vs Mohammad Safa (0-0): AMATEUR Flyweight
“Both seem to be strikers, but looking at skill-sets, I think Safa has the superior hands and will get the finish.”
Prediction: Safa wins by TKO in the second round.
Alex Moher (0-0) vs Martin Zaanoni (0-1): AMATEUR Bantamweight
“Moher is stepping in on short notice, and comes from what seems to be a good wrestling background and a good gym, but I think Zaanoni’s striking and fight experience, along with a full camp, will make the difference.”
