MMA Empire ("we", "us", "the site") is committed to protecting the personal information of its readers. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for Quebec residents, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).
1. Information we collect
- Contact information. Your name and email address when you write to us at contact@mmaempire.ca or subscribe to updates.
- Correspondence. The content of messages you send us, including news tips, corrections, and feedback.
- Usage data. Pages visited, referring pages, approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, collected automatically through standard web analytics.
- Advertising data. Information collected by our advertising partners through cookies and similar technologies (see "Advertising" below).
2. How we use your information
- To answer questions, news tips, and correction requests.
- To send you updates only where you have explicitly opted in, in compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
- To understand readership and improve our coverage and site performance.
- To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
The site uses cookies for essential functionality, analytics, and advertising. A cookie notice is displayed when you first visit; you can decline non-essential cookies there or disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling cookies does not prevent you from reading the site.
4. Advertising
We display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. 5. Third-party content and links
Our pages may embed or link to third-party services (e.g., social platforms, video embeds, ufc.com, ESPN data sources). Those services are governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for their practices.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the site (hosting, analytics, advertising), each under their own privacy commitments, or when required by Canadian law.
7. Retention
Personal information is kept only as long as necessary for the purposes described above — correspondence for as long as the exchange requires, analytics in aggregate form — and is then deleted or anonymized.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures (HTTPS, access controls, minimal data collection by design) to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure; contact us immediately if you believe your information has been compromised.
9. Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or withdraw consent to its use, at any time by writing to contact@mmaempire.ca. Quebec residents may also designate a person to exercise their rights in the event of death or incapacity. We respond to verifiable requests within 30 days. You may also file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in law or in how the site operates. Material changes will be announced on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
