Prospect Fighting Championship is back with Prospect FC 14 at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ont. tomorrow night. It should be a great night of fights featuring some of Canada’s top current and up-and-coming fighters.
Here are my picks for tomorrow night’s action.
Kyle Prepolec (15-8) vs. Marco Elpidio (14-6-2): PRO Lightweight FIGHT PREVIEW
I expect Prepolec to come out guns blazing in front of his home crowd after coming up short in his last outing. I think his versatility will be the difference-maker.
Prediction: Prepolec wins via TKO.
Michael Imperato (10-4) vs. Edward Walls (10-8): PRO Bantamweight
Good matchup for the Canadian. I expect Imperato to get the fight to the mat and get a finish there.
Prediction: Imperato wins via submission.
Jesse Gross (10-5) vs. Nathan Williams (13-9): PRO 150 pounds
He’s had some high-level bouts in the past, but with just one fight in the last seven years for Gross, I’m going to go with the more active fighter in this one. Williams should lean on his athleticism to get the win.
Prediction: Williams wins via decision.
Chris Lee Byrne (5-2) vs. James Foster (2-4-1): PRO Middleweight
This is a good matchup. Foster has been susceptible to getting into brawls and throwing technique out the window in the past. I expect the BJJ black belt, Byrne, to land something eventually.
Prediction: Byrne wins via submission.
Gino Ghalehpardaz (2-1) vs. Matt Dawson (2-3): PRO Flyweight
Two totally different styles in this one should make for a great matchup. With his kickboxing background, Ghalehpardaz uses lots of feints and movement while Dawson is always looking to push forward and make things messy. I think Dawson will eventually wear Ghalehpardaz down and get back in the win column.
Prediction: Dawson wins via decision.
Matt Hovorka (1-3) vs. Josh Martiniuk (0-1): PRO Featherweight
This is actually a rematch of an amateur bout that Hovorka won by knockout in the first round back in 2016. I expect the striking prowess and speed of Hovorka to be the difference-maker again.
Prediction: Hovorka wins via TKO.
Faisal Rehman (0-0) vs. Jamie Ingram (0-0): PRO Lightweight
It’s impressive seeing these dudes competing professionally at their age. They’re pretty evenly-matched and it should be a good battle. I’m going to lean towards Ingram. I think he’ll look to mix in his grappling for the win.
Prediction: Ingram wins via decision.
Gordon Cunningham (0-1) vs. Mike Guermoudi (0-0): PRO 200 pounds
Guermoudi hasn’t competed since 2016. It’s good to see him back in action, and this time as a professional. I like the way Cunningham uses his size and reach, he’s a talented striker. I expect him to find a finish in this one. It should be an exciting bout.
Prediction: Cunningham wins via TKO.
Isabelle Lacroix (0-0) vs. Amanda Lovato (2-7): PRO Women’s Atomweight
I’m going to lean towards the more experienced fighter in this one. Lovato has proven she’s resilient and I think she’ll make it three wins in a row.
Prediction: Lovato wins via decision.
Patrick MacInnis (0-1) vs. David Dawson (0-0): PRO Lightweight
Going to go with MacInnis in this one. He showed some promise in his pro debut. There’s not much out there on Dawson.
Prediction: MacInnis wins via decision.
