The action is picking up quickly for Canadians in 2021. There is at least one Canadian in action every weekend this month and 10 fighters competing so far.
February 2021 marked a turning point in the post-shutdown calendar: American promotions were running weekly cards again, and Canadians who had spent most of 2020 on the shelf were suddenly booked across four straight weekends. The month's slate touches nearly every level of the sport — UFC prelims, Fight Pass regionals, internet pay-per-views and amateur title fights.

141 lbs – Terry Lemaire submits Isaiah Ferguson by Guillotine Choke In Round 1, 1:12
Lemaire opened the month with the fastest Canadian finish — a 72-second guillotine that needed no interpretation. HR MMA's Kentucky cards don't draw the attention of the bigger regionals, but a first-round submission is the currency every scout respects, and it kept the veteran Canadian active when activity itself was hard to come by.

135 lbs – Evelyn Martins defeats Melissa Croden by Split Decision
Martins-Croden went to the judges in a bout between two Canadians on American soil — a Titan FC card that doubled as an unofficial showcase for the country's women's MMA depth. Croden came in as one of Western Canada's more touted prospects, and a split decision between the two tells you exactly how tight the fight was.

125 lbs – Gillian Robertson (9-5) vs. Miranda Maverick (8-2) **CANCELLED**
The Robertson-Maverick cancellation was a familiar pandemic-era story: a high-profile matchup scrubbed late, leaving one of Canada's most experienced flyweights without a date. Robertson's fight bookings had been hit repeatedly by the disrupted calendar, and this one had to wait for a later rebooking.

135 lbs – Aiemann Zahabi defeats Drako Rodriguez by KO (Punches) in Round 1, 3:05
The knockout was the month's signature Canadian moment — Zahabi's first UFC fight in over three years, and he ended it with a first-round finish over an undefeated prospect. Comebacks at this level rarely announce themselves that cleanly; the win immediately re-established him as a live name in the bantamweight division and remains one of the more emphatic returns to the cage a Canadian has produced.

155 lbs – Adam Assenza defeats Sean Connor Fallon by Split Decision
Assenza's split-decision win came in what was originally booked as a title bout before being reconfigured — the kind of backstage reshuffling that defined regional cards in this stretch. For a fighter openly collecting belts across the circuit, even a non-title win over Fallon kept the belt-collecting campaign moving.
It was also the third straight weekend a Canadian had appeared on an HR MMA card, a run that quietly made Kentucky an unlikely hub of Canadian activity early in the year.

Amateur 125 lbs – Brennan Picard (2-0) vs. Antonio Figueiredo (3-1)
Amateur bouts on regional cards are easy to skim past, but they're where the next wave gets its reps — and Picard at 2-0 was fighting to protect an unblemished record against a winning opponent, exactly the test young fighters need before turning pro.

170 lbs – Tom Theocharis (4-3) vs. Brandon Bell (9-7)
Theocharis-Bell closed out HR MMA's three-card month for Canadians — the promotion leaned heavily on Canadian talent to fill its Kentucky shows, making it one of the busiest homes for northern fighters during a stretch when domestic options barely existed.
UFC Fight Night 186 – Las Vegas – Feb. 27

125 lbs – Alexis Davis defeats Sabina Mazo by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27)
Davis's unanimous decision was the month's most veteran performance from a Canadian — a methodical, dominant win over a younger opponent that showed the former title challenger still had plenty to offer the flyweight division. Wins like this don't move rankings dramatically, but they reinforce a career's longevity in a division that chews through contenders quickly.
All told, February delivered the deepest Canadian slate in months — submissions at every level, a career-reviving knockout on one of the UFC's bigger stages, and enough regional activity to signal the circuit was finally stirring back to life after a lost year.
