At just 20 years old, Canadian featherweight prospect Jake Geauvreau is quickly climbing the ranks of Canada's MMA landscape after scoring two impressive victories in his opening professional outings.

Geauvreau (2-0) hopes to improve to 3-0 on Saturday evening as he squares off against Cody Chovancek (2-0) in the featured bout of BTC 16: Challengers Series 1.

Even before landing the main event position, Geauvreau was buzzing about the matchup, but Chovancek's decision to call him out directly ratcheted up the anticipation further.

"It really got me fired up, it was genuinely exciting," Geauvreau told MMA Empire. "Having him call me out directly makes the whole matchup even more compelling, and I believe we're in for something special."

Training out of New Era Combat Sports in Ottawa, Ont., Geauvreau surrounds himself with elite talent, headlined by reigning BFL featherweight champion Mateo Vogel.

"It's fantastic to spar with fighters like that, particularly Mateo since he's a truly exceptional wrestler. I feel like my grappling has gotten noticeably better because of him," Geauvreau explained.

With merely two professional bouts under his belt, Geauvreau was humbled to secure a main event slot on BTC 16's card.

"I honestly love it. I never saw this coming when I found out it'd be the headline fight, considering how few bouts I've fought, but I'm thrilled to have the opportunity."
