Jake Geauvreau was thrilled to be called out by Cody Chovancek for BTC 16 main event

At just 20 years of age, Canadian featherweight prospect Jake Geauvreau is rising to the top of the Canadian MMA scene with two impressive wins in his first two professional bouts.

Geauvreau (2-0) will look to move to 3-0 on Saturday night when he takes on Cody Chovancek (2-0) in the main event of BTC 16: Challengers Series 1.

If the main event spot didn’t already have Geauvreau excited, Chovancek calling him out had him even more pumped up.

“It fired me up, it was exciting for sure. It definitely makes the fight a lot more exciting that he called me out and I think it’s going to be an awesome fight,” Geauvreau said in an interview with MMA Empire.

Geauvreau, who trains at New Era Combat Sports in Ottawa, Ont., has plenty of solid bodies to work with but none better than current BFL featherweight champion Mateo Vogel.

“It’s awesome getting to train with guys like that, especially Mateo because he’s a really really good wrestler. I think he’s made my ground game improve a lot,” said Geauvreau.

Having only two pro fights under his belt, Geauvreau was honored he was getting a spot in the main event at BTC 16 for Saturday night.

“I think it’s really awesome. I did not expect that at all when I heard it was going to be the main event because I only have a couple of fights, but I think it’s awesome.”
