After a brief hiatus, Unified MMA makes its return with Unified MMA 46 scheduled to unfold at the promotion's home venue, the River Cree Resort and Casino, located near Edmonton, Alberta.
The card features what may be one of the finest matchups to grace Canadian MMA this season, as Christian Larsen (7-2) puts his Unified MMA heavyweight championship on the line against former CFFC heavyweight titleholder and 2021 PFL heavyweight competitor Jamelle Jones (12-8).
At 34 years old, Jones has been eager to compete in Canada ever since joining the PFL in 2021, and he is thrilled about how this matchup materialized.
"I'm absolutely thrilled. It's an incredible privilege and a massive chance," Jones told MMA Empire. "Canada is a stunning country with truly remarkable fans, and Unified stands as their premier promotion."
"This means everything to me. I'm venturing into his territory, his home turf, his belt — and I believe I'm the man to claim it."
Jones faced some formidable Brazilian heavyweights during his recent PFL outings, and now he prepares to meet another towering heavyweight in Unified MMA's top contender.
"I'll keep repeating it because there are tiers to this sport, and I want to test whether he actually matches mine," Jones explained. "Obviously he possesses strength, he has the size — 6'4" and a massive frame — he's athletic and a skilled wrestler. But this is combat, and I represent his toughest hurdle. We're about to find out if he operates at my level, and honestly, I doubt he does."
Jones remains under contract with the PFL, but the organization has granted him permission to compete in this bout outside his current deal.
He carries motivation to demonstrate his capabilities following his most recent PFL appearance.
"I've competed against the absolute elite," Jones stated. "I don't consider Chris Larsen among the best in the world. When it comes to raw power and the capacity to dominate at heavyweight, he's certainly above average — a genuine force. But my background and experience will factor heavily into this equation."

If Chris brings along high school friends, coaches, former partners, parents — everyone he knows — I'm traveling solo. On that drive back home, I'll process everything alone.
