Patrick Connors wants a 15-minute war with Justin Bourgeois in FLA 4 main event

This Saturday Night, Atlantic Canada-based promotion Fight League Atlantic puts on their fourth show from Sackville, N.B.

The FLA 4 main event is one of the best fights to hit the Canadian MMA scene this year as Ontario’s Patrick Connors (4-4) will take on Justin Bourgeois (7-6) in a 150-pound catchweight bout.

Connors, 27, is taking this fight on relatively short notice but is coming off an impressive win over Yohan Salvador at Samourai MMA 2 back in May, which snapped a four-fight losing streak.

“I put a lot of preparation into that one and I would just like to continue carrying that momentum forward because it’s a hard day in and day out. At some points, you start to question what am I doing in this sport when you are losing,” said Connors in an interview with MMA Empire.

As far as experience goes, Bourgeois will be the most seasoned test of Connors’ career.

And although Bourgeois is coming off a six-year layoff, Connors knows this will be a tough test against an opponent that poses as many threats he does.

“I know he is well-rounded like myself. I’ve heard him talk about being happy with his boxing and started out with wrestling. He trained under Wagney Fabiano/Nova Unao, and I have as well,” said Connors.

“The way people describe him to me is tough and durable. That’s the type of guy I want to be in there against, someone who I can’t find a way to put them out but I look great trying. That’s the type of performance I want. I want to go a full 15 minutes and I want to outclass this guy, so knowing he’s sharp everywhere will keep me sharp everywhere and I’m looking forward to it.”
