Two unbeaten lightweight talents collide at Unified MMA 47 when Ramil Kamilov (3-0) takes on Sean Michael (3-0) Friday evening in Calgary, Alberta.
Kamilov, 25, has had his sights set on this bout for years, having crossed paths with Michael on various fight cards. He revealed that Michael passed on the matchup on several occasions, and only after Kamilov cranked up his social media profile did negotiations finally produce a deal.
"He brings some solid strengths. Stylistically, I'm the superior fighter. Skill-wise, I'm the better man. Physically I'm stronger, my mental game is sharper, and frankly I'm the better option in almost every facet of the sport," Kamilov told MMA Empire. "I'm simply better than him in nearly every area."
"That said, he's dangerous in select areas. I won't go into detail about certain grappling exchanges, but there's one striking dimension I acknowledge. His right hand is legitimate. Outside of that, I have little regard for his striking arsenal."
