Each event, there will be a “guest predictor” who will offer their insight into the event and provide their predictions for each MMA bout.
For Samourai MMA 1, Chris Chapman (4-2) has stepped in to provide his predictions and analysis for the seven MMA bouts on the card.
Chapman is coming off an impressive third round finish of Ali Charkie at Unified MMA 41, bouncing back from his defeat at the hands of Colton Cronkite at BTC 11. Chapman is remaining active in 2021 as he is set to enter the Unified MMA cage again on Dec. 17 to take on Cole Campbell at Unified MMA 42.
Here are Chapman’s predictions for Samourai MMA 1:
Michael Dufort (8-3) vs. Kyle Prepolec (14-7): PRO Lightweight DUFORT PREVIEW, PREPOLEC PREVIEW
“Great main event for Samourai MMA. Very hard fight to pick actually, both are very experienced, but I think the slight edge goes to Prepolec just from being in the big show and experiencing the pressure that comes with that. I think Dufort will try and get Prepolec down to the ground quickly in the first round but if Prepolec can keep the fight standing and implement his precise striking, he will take the decision.”
Prediction: Prepolec wins via decision.
Alex Morgan (10-4) vs. Maged Hammo (10-5-1): PRO Featherweight MORGAN PREVIEW, HAMMO PREVIEW
“BANGER of a fight. Morgan is coming off a nice victory after a little layoff and Hammo showed in his last fight he’s game whereever the fight lands. But I think the size of Morgan is going to be a problem.”
Prediction: Morgan wins via decision.
Strahinja Gavrilovic (7-5) vs. Jonathan Bosuku (7-6-1): PRO Light Heavyweight
“Gavrilovic is coming off of a four-year layoff, but before that he was doing great against top competition. With not knowing much about Bosuku, other than most of his wins coming by knockout, I am going to have to go with Gavrilovic.”
Prediction: Gavrilovic wins via TKO.
Frederik Dupras (2-1) vs. Patrick Connors (3-3): PRO Featherweight
“Both had pretty impressive amateur careers, so experience should be a wash. The length of Connors might be the decision-maker here. If he can utilize his length and strike from the outside, he should be able to outpoint Dupras to a decision.”
Prediction: Connors wins via decision.
Maxime Poulin (4-1) vs. Guillaume Fortier (2-3): PRO Featherweight
“Fortier coming off an 11-year layoff is never good for combat sports and Poulin’s last fight being only three years removed should definitely be the difference-maker.”
Prediction: Poulin wins via TKO.
Pierre Thivierge (1-0) vs. Yassin Nasri (1-1): PRO Flyweight
“I’m not too familiar with these two, but Thivierge definitely has the experience on his side after having 10 amateur fights.”
Prediction: Thivierge wins via submission.
Irvin Bared (1-0) vs. Noah Crosswell (0-1): PRO Featherweight
“Bared coming in from France and coming off a three-round professional win should be able to pull this one out.”
Prediction: Bared wins via submission.
