Unified MMA 42 – Live Results and Play-by-Play

Unified MMA is bringing us an insanely stacked card for their annual year-end Christmas show. Unified MMA will crown their first ever Super-Middleweight Champion when Graham Park and Mariusz Ksiazkiewicz do battle in the main event. Double Champ Shane Campbell returns to Lightweight for the first time in over two years and was set to defend his Lightweight Title against Dutch kickboxing standout Hubert Geven however, Geven missed weight and we’ll have a three-round non-title fight.

Elsewhere on the card, we’ll see the MMA debut of former Glory Kickboxing champion Simon Marcus against Anton Tokarchuk, UFC veteran KB Bhullar entering the cage for the fourth time in 2021 against former Unified Welterweight Champion Brandt Dewsbery as well as a handful of promising young prospects.

Pro Super Middleweight Title Fight- Graham Park (8-2) vs. Marius Ksiazkiewicz (8-1)
Round 1: Park with a leg kick to open the fight. Combo from Ksiazkiewicz just misses and a body kick shortly thereafter. Ksiazkiewicz swinging body kick misses and Park wags the finger. Ksiazkiewicz lands a left followed by another massive left that puts Park out cold before he hits the mat. Ksiazkiewicz jumps on top of his unconscious foe and follows up with a barrage before referee Andy Social can pull him off. Ksiazkiewicz screams in the face of Park who is still out and is sent back to his corner by Social. Scary knockout but Park gets up under his own power a short time later. Ksiazkiewicz offers Park a rematch and says he wants to take the Light-Heavyweight title as well.

Pro Lightweight- Shane Campbell (18-8) vs. Hubert Geven (13-3)
Round 1: Leg kick from Geven answered with a right from Campbell and again. Front kick to the thigh from Campbell and clashing leg kicks. Campbell with a leg kick and double right. Campbell looking for the toe stab and bullies him to the mat. Campbell passes to side control. Geven hooks the arm and chips away from the bottom. Campbell gains some separation and it looks like Geven has a cut on the hairline. Campbell postures and connects with a big right. A pair of rights land and he presses Geven against the cage. Geven looks to scramble away and Campbell jumps on the back. Geven able to get to his feet and knees the thigh. Campbell gets separation and connects with a combo. High kick blocked by Geven and a leg kick for Campbell. Front kick just falls short of the chin by Campbell. Geven with a combo and a leg kick turns Geven around. A toe stab just at rounds end sends Geven tumbling backwards. MMA Empire scores round 10-9 Campbell

Round 2: Both men trade leg kicks and Geven ties him up. Campbell looks for the judo toss and ends up on the back. Campbell knees the body and lands some rights. Campbell flattens him out and begins raining down relentless shots and Geven can do nothing but cover up. Campbell keeps firing away and referee Luke Boutin tells Geven to defend himself. Campbell keeps landing and Geven presents his neck. Campbell briefly threatens for the choke but Geven is able to defend and survive. Campbell pounds away again and this time Geven has had enough and mercilessly Boutin steps in to rescue him from any further punishment.

Pro Super Middleweight- KB Bhullar (9-3) vs. Brandt Dewsbery (15-3-1)
Round 1: Hard leg kick for Dewsbery and they look to trade. More solid leg kicks from Dewsbery and he’s come out aggressive. Bhullar with a leg kick and a high kick just misses. Dewsbery with another leg kick and presses forward really trying to put Bhullar on his heels. Bhullar with another leg kick and Dewsbery lands to the body. Solid body kick lands for Bhullar and he gets the clinch and lands a knee. Dewsbery now with the clinch and a knee followed by a hard body kick. Dewsbery jab to the body and a Bhullar high kick wraps around the back of the head. Slightly delayed reaction and Dewsbery turns and drops. Bhullar pounces on top and rains down furious ground and pound until referee Andy Social has seen enough.

Pro Super Middleweight- Simon Marcus (0-0) vs. Anton Tokarchuk (4-6)
Round 1: The MMA debut of WORLD CLASS Canadian kickboxing legend Simon Marus is here. Hard inside leg kick from Marcus and a kick to the body. Tokarchuk’s awkward style is on full display but another leg kick briefly hobbles him. Marcus leg kicks are echoing through the building and a kick to the body lands. Tokarchuk with a combo but Marcus covers up and lands a leg kick. Marcus gets the body lock but Tokarchuk gets away. More inside leg kicks and Tokarchuks thigh already like hamburger meat. Huge overhand right connects from Marcus and he follows him to the mat and lands. Tokarchuk looking to get control on the mat but Marcus is eventually able to settle to full mount. Tokarchuk is able to escape back to his feet and Marcus pushes him back to the cage and lands. Marcus teeing off but Tokarchuk is able to eat the heavy shots and even throws a few back. They separate and Marcus lands a right. Tokarchuk swinging and Marcus with nice head movement avoids the shots. Marcus bullies him to the mat and chips away with some shots as time expires. Round 2: Marcus back to the inside leg kick and sticks a jab. Marcus a little more cautious as Tokarchuk presses forward. Marcus continues to land leg kicks at will. Marcus circling and lands a thudding kick to the body. Marcus volume has dropped and we have to wonder if the longer rounds are taking a toll. Marcus lands a right and a leg and a kick to the body. Hard hook to the body lands and a jab to the body. High kick just blocked by Tokarchuk. Combo from Marcus mostly blocked and a right lands. Marcus with the clinch and a knee. Front kick to the body and a huge right. Marcus combo misses the mark and he briefly looks for the takedown. Tokarchuk pulls him to the mat but Marcus on top in guard. Marcus postures and lands steady solid punches. Tokarchuk throws the legs up but Marcus avoids it and connects with some short elbows. MMA Empire scores round 10-9 Marcus

Round 3: Big combo from Marcus and a leg kick lands. Both men trade inside leg kicks and a right connects from Marcus. Follows up with a jab and an accidental eye poke from Marcus. A brief pause and the doctor enters to check on Tokarchuk. Tokarchuk says he can’t see and we should be going to a technical decision due to the unintentional foul. For some reason the commision did not score the third round as is customary in a technical decision. MMA Empire scores round 10-9 Marcus

Pro Super Welterweight- Cole Campbell (3-3) vs. Chris Chapman (4-2)
Round 1: Thudding leg kick by Campbell to start. Inside leg kicks traded. Campbell walks him down to the cage and drops for the single. They jockey for position and Campbell gets the body lock. Campbell can’t drag him to the mat but Chapman can’t free himself. Campbell switches to a double but it’s Chapman who gets the takedown. Campbell boxes the ears and Chapman looking to pass but can’t. Campbell throws up an armbar attempt but Chapman defends. Campbell with the butterfly guard and reaches over for a kimura. Chapman spins out and lands a hammerfist. Chapman postures up and lands an elbow and a right. Chapman stands and lets him to his feet. Campbell with a right and a combo and a big takedown to full guard. Chapman now throwing the legs up high and Campbell with a couple shots. Campbell postures and lands and eats an upkick right at the bell. MMA Empire scores round 10-9 Campbell

Round 2: Chapman with the inside leg kick and they trade shots. Campbell ties him up and drops for the single. Chapman controlling the wrist and defending well with a body shot. Campbell tries to work to the back but Chapman puts him on the fence. Campbell with the body lock and sweeps the leg before passing to 3/4 mount. Campbell moves to side control and lands but Chapman gets back to half guard. Campbell takes the back and hammers the ear. The cage is blocking his attempt to work for the choke. Campbell is able to get some room and starts to work for it. Chapman to his knees but Campbell flattens him out and switches to the arm-triangle. Well defended by Chapman and Campbell has his back again and fighting for the choke. Chapman spins to full guard and stands. Chapman drops a right and looks for the guillotine but Campbell escapes and eats an upkick. Chapman to turtle and Campbell lands and connects with a knee to the body. Round 3: High kick by Chapman blocked but the leg kick lands. Flying knee to the body connects and Campbell responds with the bog takedown to Chapman with the deep armbar and Campbell winces but is able to pull his arm free and gets on top. Campbell looking for the heel hook but Chapman is able to pull his leg free and looks for the guillotine from turtle but slips off and Campbell back on top in half guard. Campbell postures up and lands and looks to pass. Chapman still throwing his legs high but Campbell lands some elbows and shuts down the attempts. Campbell chips away and Chapman tries like hell to sweep but Campbell stays heavy. Chapman looks to sweep again but gives up his back. Chapman is bloodied but defending well and Campbell lands for the final ten seconds. MMA Empire scores round 10-9 Campbell

Pro Lightweight- Jett Grande (1-0-1) vs. Steven Thomas (0-0)
Round 1: Both men are cautious to start and look to find their range. Thomas strikes first with a body kick and Grande looks to chase him down and land. A solid combo against the cage prompts a takedown attempt from Thomas but Grande defends and gets separation. Grande connects with a three-punch combo that flattens Thomas and he pounces on top to follow up but referee Luke Boutin is right behind him to pull him off his fallen foe.

Pro Lightweight- Tyrell Giselbrecht (1-0) vs. Ramil Kamilov (0-0)
Round 1: Both men looking to land and Kamilov quickly drops Giselbrecht and pounds away. Giselbrecht recovers, gets back to his feet, and drags him down. A chaotic scramble and Giselbrecht looks for the armbar but Kamilov escapes and they’re back up again. They tie up on the cage briefly and separate and both men trade hard shots. Giselbrecht landing a barrage of shots and they jockey for position. High kick lands from Giselbrecht and he continues to connect. Giselbrecht gets the takedown but Kamilov pops back up. They trade knees up the middle and both men land hard shots. Huge right and a knee for Giselbrecht. Kamilov with the leg kick and they tie up and trade. Kamilov lands a right and rocks him with a huge uppercut that sends Giselbrecht to the mat. Kamilov follows up with some heavy leather that forces referee Andy Social to step in to halt the punishment.

Amateur Catchweight (150lbs)- Sean Carroll (1-1) vs. Leo Bonin (1-1)
Round 1: Bonin with the leg kick and an immediate tie up on the cage. Carroll reverses position but Bonin gets the body lock and drags him down to full guard. Bonin can’t pass as Carroll holds him close. Bonin is finally able to advance to half guard and then to full mount. Bonin postures up and lands to the body as no head strikes on the ground are allowed in this amateur bout. Bonin stands and looks to take the back, landing a trio of body shots just before the round ends. MMA Empire scores round 10-9 Bonin

Round 2: Both men land and a kick to the body from Bonin. Nice combo from Carrol and Bonin covers up. Bonin looks to kick the body but Carroll catches it and stays out of range. Sidekick from Carroll lands low but Bonin waves it off and Carroll gets the takedown, Bonin with the sweep to full guard and lands to the body before standing and passing to side control. Bonin sinks the rear-naked choke and works for the finish. Carroll briefly defends but is ultimately forced to tap.

Amateur Featherweight- Nick Felber (1-1) vs. Arman Deol (1-0)
Round 1: Felber looking to land right away and connects to the body. Felber knees the body and they separate. Leg kick for Felber and lands a combo. Deol connects with a hard right and a hard kick takes his legs out but Deol pops back up. Deol with a leg kick and they tie up and trade. Felber with a knee to the body and Deol lands a low blow. They pause and on the restart, they feel each other out and each connects at the bell. MMA Empire scores round 10-9 Felber

Round 2: Felber opens with a leg kick and they both look to find the range. Felber continues to connect with the leg kicks. Deol connects with a hard right that briefly stuns Felber and he presses him against the cage. They jockey for position and Felber puts his back on the fence. Felber looking for the body lock takedown but Deol defends and gets away. Overhand right from Felber, they trade and Felber with a knee to the body. Leg kicks and a right from Felber. Both men swing wildly and Deol with a right and an uppercut. Felber with a knee to the body and a big swing misses. Deol with the clinch and a pair of solid knees to the head. Round 3: Both men with some stiff jabs and Felber with the leg kick. Deol kicks the body and an uppercut and clinch knee lands. Felber presses forward and swings big looping shots and looks for the takedown. Deol defends and shoots for the double and sits Felber against the cage. Felber tries to work back to his feet and lands knees to the body. Deol looking for the single and Felber now presses him into the cage. Deol with the clinch and another knee. Felber pauses to complain about a low shot but Social doesn’t pause the action. Deol lands a knee to the head which is illegal under the amateur rules and Social takes a point. The restart and Deol knees the body from the clinch and Felber connects with some hard shots. Deol looks for the guillotine choke and the round ends. MMA Empire scores round 10-8 Felber

Amateur Flyweight- Mitch Wiles (2-2) vs. Gabriel Brown (0-0))
Round 1: They open with a flurry and Wiles gets the double leg but Brown pops back to his feet. Wiles lands a hard knee to the body and follows up with some solid uppercuts. Wiles chips away and Wiles hooks the leg and pulls Brown to the mat. Wiles sinks the rear-naked choke but Brown fights the hands and is able to pull the arm off his neck. Wiles still working hard for the choke. Wiles hammers the body and sinks the choke deep but Brown hears the ten-second warning, fights the hands and guts it out like a veteran. Round 2: Brown with a front kick to the body and they trade shots. Wiles rushes in and Brown looks to connect but can’t. Wiles ties him up against the cage and looks for the body lock. Wiles chips away and knees the thigh and finally drags him down. Wiles traps the leg and sinks the hooks but can’t work his way to the choke. Wiles lands shots and Brown is stuck against the cage. Brown in the process of getting to his feet as the round comes to a close. MMA Empire scores round 10-9 Wiles

Round 3: Brown lands a furious combo and a leg kick and Wiles immediately brings it back to the mat and looks to pass to side control. Brown needs to let go of the neck or he’s in danger of a Von Flue. Brown finally lets got and gets the sweep to side control. Brown with a knee to the body and hammers the body. Wiles trying to walk up the cage to escape and Brown can’t pass. Brown knees the body but Wiles is able to regain half-guard and back to full guard. Brown lands to the body as time expires. Amateur Welterweight- Ian Stoby (0-0) vs. Mac Stroud (1-1)
Round 1: Leg kick from Stroud and they trade before Stroud looks for the takedown. Stoby stuffs it and defends against the cage. Stroud gets the body lock and lands a shot. Stroud looks to sink the hooks and drags him to the mat. Stroud working for the rear-naked choke but Stoby doing well fighting the hands. Stroud with the body triangle but can’t lock in the choke. Stroud chips away with shots and maintains control. The ten-second clapper sounds and Stoby escapes to his feet. Stroud looks for another takedown and a scramble ends the round. Round 2: Stroud with a jab and Stoby lands a high kick that knocks the mouth guard out. Stoby gets the body lock and drags him to the mat. Stoby looks to pass and moves to side control. Stroud looking for a guillotine choke and is able to get back to his feet and looking for a d’arce choke. Stroud looking for the single and gets it to full guard. Stroud with the guillotine attempt but it’s not close and time expires. MMA Empire scores round 10-9 Stoby

Round 3: A pair of leg kicks for Stroud and a hard jab connects from Stoby. Stoby continues to land and backs him up to the cage. Stroud looks for the body lock and drives him against the cage. Stoby looks to spin off but Stroud keeps his back on the cage. Stroud chips away and continues to work for position. Stroud with some knees to the thigh. Stoby keeps trying to get off the cage and gets a throw but Stroud pops right back up. The ten-second warning sounds and Stoby lands a head kick and fires away but Stroud survives.
