Predictions: BFL 74

Although the card has taken a few hits, BFL provides a solid offering with BFL 74, which includes two title bouts and the return of UFC veteran Tristan Connelly. Check out who I see leaving victorious tomorrow night below.

Dejan Kajic (14-7-2) vs. JC Llamas (9-7): PRO 175-Pound Title Bout** KAJIC PREVIEW, LLAMAS PREVIEW

On paper, this should be a layup fight for Kajic. Llamas has fought just once since 2017, but his jiu-jitsu is no joke and he can certainly pose problems for Kajic in that realm. However, I expect Kajic to keep it standing and eventually find the finish.

Prediction: Kajic wins via TKO.

Mateo Vogel (6-2) vs. Taylor Christopher (2-0): PRO Featherweight Title Bout** FIGHT PREVIEW

This might be the best matchup on the entire card and I think it’s going to come down to how often Vogel can secure takedowns. There’s no question Vogel should have the edge on the ground in this one, but I would also have to give the edge to Christopher on the feet. In the end, I think Vogel will be the one to implement his game plan best.

Prediction: Vogel wins via submission.

Tristan Connelly (14-8) vs. Xavier Nash (6-5): PRO Lightweight

I’m definitely going out on a limb with this one, but I think Nash has the style to pose problems for Connelly. Both of Connelly’s recent losses in the UFC have come to wrestlers, which is exactly what I think Nash will do. If Nash chooses to stand with Connelly, then I have to give the edge to Connelly.

Prediction: Nash wins via decision.

Gagan Gill (3-2) vs. Adam De Freitas (2-2): PRO Lightweight

This is a tough fight to call for me. Both of Gill’s losses have come against guys who really pressured him for 15 minutes, which is exactly what I could see De Freitas doing. It would not surprise me at all to see Gill come out on top, but I’m rolling with De Freitas for the pick.

Prediction: De Freitas wins via decision.

Brandon Labrecque (1-0) vs. Makinde Adeyemi (1-3): PRO Featherweight

Both guys are coming off impressive upset victories their last time out, so confidence will be high in both. Much like the matchup above, I think it comes down to can Adeyemi secure takedowns? I feel Labrecque will have the advantage on the feet, but I think Adeyemi will have even more success on the ground.

Prediction: Adeyemi wins via decision.

Sina Maani (3-0) vs. David Chen (1-3): AMATEUR Flyweight Title Bout**

There’s a lot of question marks with this one; this is Maani’s first time competing at flyweight, while this is Chen’s first fight since May 2018. Maani has looked solid kicking off his amateur career, so I’ll have to side with him given the long layoff for Chen.

Prediction: Maani wins via decision.

Tage Castonguay (1-0) vs. Connor Manahan (0-1): AMATEUR Featherweight

The fights get tough to pick from here on out with very little information and footage available. Castonguay is coming out of a solid gym and looked good in his debut.

Prediction: Castonguay wins via decision.

Harrison Woods (0-0) vs. Connor Sutton (0-0): AMATEUR 175 pounds

Two fighters making their amateur debuts here, so flip a coin. I’ll side with the hometown fighter, Woods.

Prediction: Woods wins via decision.

Liam Arthur (1-1) vs. Jake Freeman (1-0): AMATEUR Featherweight

Tough fight to call once again with such little footage, but I’ll side with Freeman, who trains out of one of the best gyms in the Vancouver area in Revolution Martial Arts.

Prediction: Freeman wins via decision.
